Life gets busy, and though we all intend to eat only organic fruits and veggies to nurture our bodies, the reality can be a far cry from that (as in: reaching for whatever's nearest, because we're all tired as hell, okay?). Enter: Daily Harvest. Founder Rachel Drori created the company in 2015 with the intention of offering nutrient-rich, organic, chef-crafted food (think smoothies, bowls, soups, and more) in easy cup-form-so you can just throw everything into a blender or on your stovetop, and have a delicious, healthy meal with zero effort. Busy city-dwellers, rejoice.
Today, there's even more reason to celebrate-the brand just launched three protein-rich versions of its beloved smoothies, and they're set to be your new obsession (trust us, we tried them). It's easy to throw some protein powder with some frozen fruit and call it a day. But protein powders can be full of sketchy ingredients (not to mention a ton of added sugars) that can wreak havoc on your digestive system and overall health. Daily Harvest's new smoothies use all-natural, plant-based sources of protein from sources such as black sesame and sacha inchi, a seed that's native to Peru containing all the essential amino acids, along with a slew of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. Plus, all three of the flavors-Cold Brew + Cacao, Strawberry + Vanilla Bean, Black Sesame + Banana-are free of added sugars, fillers, or artificial anything. You'll also find ingredients like the mood-balancing adaptogen ashwagandha, and organic lion's mane mushroom (you can read more about the medicinal benefits of mushrooms here).
We did a taste-test before launch, and can confirm that they are, indeed, delicious and filling. Toss them in your blender for a post-or pre-workout snack, or as your breakfast before a busy day. Our personal fave? The Black Sesame + Banana, which tastes like a nutty ice cream and blends black sesame with blueberries and bananas, along with pine pollen (which contains more than 20 amino acids).
