Nonsurgical nose jobs are on the rise-according to WhatClinic.com, the treatment (also known as “nose filler”) has risen by 29% in the past year, with traditional rhinoplasties dropping 5% in the same period. The thing is that a surgical nose job is a pretty big investment, both in terms of money and time spent healing. It's also permanent, whereas sculpting your nose with Botox and fillers allows you to test the waters with little downtime. And while it's only a temporary fix, it is a lot cheaper. I caught by with Nina Bal, MD, founder of Facial Sculpting by Dr. Nina, who performs nonsurgical rhinoplasty at her central London clinics. If you've ever wondered What is a nonsurgical nose job? keep reading, because this reveals everything you need to know.
So First Off, Who's the Best Candidate for a Nonsurgical Nose Job?
Whoever is unhappy with the shape of their nose and considering a surgical rhinoplasty. Before considering going under the knife, I recommend coming in and having a consultation because we might be able to correct the issues only with injectables.
What Can You Do to the Nose with a Nonsurgical Treatment?
I can hide and therefore correct a dorsal hump, straightening the side profile; lift the tip of the nose; build a nasal bridge and make the nose look straighter, smaller and more defined.
What Does the Treatment Involve?
The treatment can involve injections of Botox, fillers or a combination of both.
How Long Does a Nonsurgical Nose Job Last?
Between six and 12 months, depending on the person's metabolism.
And Can You Keep Having Them?
Absolutely! The more you do it, the longer the results will last between treatments and the better results you will achieve.
Is There Any Downtime?
Swelling and bruising normally lasting anywhere between 72 hours and one week. The majority of my patients have it done in their lunch break and go back to work straight away.
In Using Filler to Disguise a Bump, Can It Make the Nose Appear Larger?
No, it's exactly the opposite. Despite injecting filler and therefore adding something, by correcting the “defect,” the nose will appear smaller, more proportional and thinner as we correct the golden ratio (a mathematical equation devised that attempts to measure beauty). To make the nose smaller, it could be just a question of people who have very little or no definition of the nasal bridge; therefore by building that, we can make the whole nose look much smaller. We can also slightly define the tip, but if you want to change it completely, we refer you to a rhinoplasty surgeon.
Is a Nonsurgical Nose Job a Good Way to See If You Would Want to Commit to a Traditional One?
Totally! I would say to every single person who wants to go ahead with a surgical rhinoplasty to have a consultation for a nonsurgical one. Bear in mind that even after a surgical rhinoplasty, the majority of patients still need to have a regular nonsurgical rhinoplasty to make the nose look perfect. Rhinoplasty is one of the most difficult surgeries-even the most skilled surgeon cannot predict the way the nose will heal.
If Someone Doesn't Live in London, How Can They Go About Finding Someone Reputable?
Look at their qualifications; look at before and after pictures to see if you like the results; ask a lot of questions, and find out if they do a lot of these procedures. You want someone qualified-ideally a doctor or dentist only, as the nose is a very vascular area and there is a potential risk of necrosis. You want someone who has studied anatomy thoroughly and has a dissolvent ready to hand in case a blood vessel gets blocked. Also, ask what kind of fillers they use. It has to be hyaluronic acid-based, dissolvable and FDA approved.
How Much Does It Typically Cost?
I charge between ВЈ350 to ВЈ650, depending on the amount of correction I need to do. Normally ВЈ350 is for dorsal hump correction only; ВЈ650 is for a full nose reshaping.
